Kendall Jenner is one of the stars of the new Givenchy campaign.
The 18-year-old model joins longtime faces Mariacarla Boscono and Julia Nobis in the new fall/winter ads shot by top fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
It is the latest evidence of the fashion world’s love for Kendall. The teenager has been making huge strides in the industry over the past year, walking in catwalk shows for Chanel and Marc Jacobs and landing a shoot in Vogue Paris.
Of course, we had a hint that Kendall was a Givenchy favorite when she walked in the label’s couture show in Paris in February.
She also has strong personal ties to Givenchy – her new brother-in-law, Kanye West is close friends with the label’s creative director Riccardo Tisci. As a result, her sister Kim Kardashian has been seen in the label on multiple formal occasions including a controversial floral number to the 2013 Met Gala and a showstopping Givenchy couture gown for her wedding last month.
Kanye also wore Givenchy to the lavish nuptials, as well as baby North, whose dress coordinated with her mother’s.
But Kendall, it seems, knows how to make headlines just as effectively as her big sister. Last Sunday she stole the show at the MuchMusic Video Awards in a Fausto Puglisi gown that was slashed on both sides to reveal her pelvic bones.
While there was clearly no need for lingerie, it is likely that the dress was not as risque as it seemed. Designer Anthony Vaccarello who also designs slit-beyond-the-thigh dresses told New York magazine in 2012 that the concept is less a slit, and more ‘like a jumpsuit dress’.
He said: ‘It’s like pants… the leg is outside through a hole. It’s more than just a simple slit.
