Date night for the carters

Their marriage is rumoured to be on the rocks, but Beyonce, 32 and Jay Z, 44, looked quite the happy couple when they enjoyed a date night at the theatre on Saturday night.

The superstars were spotted leaving a showing of A Raisin In The Sun, which stars Hollywood actor Denzel Washington on Broadway.

According to the New York City Theatre, the play is a heart-wrenching family drama by playwright Lorraine Hansberry which originally premiered on Broadway in 1959 and starred Sir Sidney Poitier.

Beyonce dazzled in a wine-coloured satin trouser suit which had flecks of colour running down it. She teamed the two-piece with a pair of black strappy sandals.

Tying her loose curls into a side ponytail, Beyonce had a big grin on her face as she tottered down the street while flanked by security.

Her rapper husband looked smart in navy trousers and a jacket which he teamed with matching Timberland boots.

The power couple stopped by to see the penultimate performance of the show which concludes on Sunday night.

According to onlookers, they arrived before show time and left before the curtain closed. Afterwards, they made a quick dash to their SUV with security escorting them.

The pair are set to be spending even more time together on the road as they kick off their joint On The Run tour in Miami on June 25th.

The husband and wife team have already sold out concerts across the country.

The concert preparations are apparently so intense, it caused them to skip the wedding of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian last month.

But the no-show was interpreted as a snub by many as Jay Z was in line to be Kanye’s best man at one time.
